Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alaa Nafi Jassim, director of the center, the Scientific Arab Heritage Revival Center / University of Baghdad organized a workshop on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Tareesh Abdel-Raza, director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and a number of professors and researchers in our center’s Professor Nabeela Abdul-Moneim hall on the workshop titled “Gaza between heritage and modernity”. Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Wahhab Al-Halafi / Crisis Studies Department / Center for Strategic and International Studies / University of Baghdad gave a lecture on Gaza in heritage. Gaza is one of the oldest cities known in history. It is not the daughter of a century or the offspring of an era, but the daughter of all past generations and companion of all past ages. Gaza, that resilient city, withstood the onslaught of invasion and occupation unlike anything humanity has witnessed today, which is the brutal Zionist occupation that used all means of violence, terror, bombardment and destruction in order to eliminate the resistance of the Palestinian people and nullify their just cause following the so-called “Deal of the Century”. The study included a heritage, historical and contemporary political vision in two sections: The first section dealt with studying the city of Gaza in Islamic heritage. The second section studied modern Gaza and its role in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
