Center of the Revival of the Arab Scientific Heritage
Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage The Center of the Revival of the Arab Scientific Heritage is one of the edifices of the University of Baghdad, which I sought to establish, as it made the Center for the Revival of Heritage one of the research centers that focus on providing the best cultural vocabulary within a sober and valuable research method, and thus supports Iraqi institutions and provides researchers with valuable information in multiple fields…. Historical, heritage, scientific, and other fields. The center is also interested in documentation because of its great importance in preserving the nation’s heritage and transferring knowledge and information to present future generations. Documentation materials are many and varied, including manuscripts, books, files, artifacts, and art materials, all of which are gathered as documentation materials that the center works on.
The Heritage Revival Center seeks to present the scientific and documentary research that the center prepares, which contribute to providing researchers with abundant information that contributes to building complete perceptions of the history and heritage of the Arab and Islamic nation. It is an issue of civilized data, and a starting point for our cultural and civilizational responsibility as well. It was necessary to pay attention to heritage, in our belief that the nation’s advancement and progress can only be based on reviving heritage and its revival, because it is the origin to which it belongs in building the present with the additions of the era. If I set out to establish a specialized scientific center concerned with highlighting the Arab scientific heritage “so that one of the basics of its work is to explore the sources of creativity and originality in the nation’s civilization and to highlight its constructive contributions in supporting the march of human civilization, especially what is related to the scientific and applied aspects of it, so it was the center of the revival of Arab scientific heritage in 1977, which was started by Bashir A.D. 12/2/1977. The Center has followed the example of the Arab scholars who realized that development and progress are continuous over generations and that time does not stop but is made by change. That is why Ibn al-Mutran says: “If a mistake is advanced, it will be delayed. Invention and invention in one of the sciences does not always mean something new that did not have a previous existence. Rather, it sometimes means an addition to what the forerunners reached or a completion of what they lacked. The center has made good steps in order to achieve its noble goals, and it is now urging steps to expand and deepen its scientific activity, using the many ways of issuing studies, indexes and heritage texts that have been scientifically investigated, activating the link between researchers and holding seminars and specialized courses, hoping that this center will be a cultural bridge. It connects the University of Baghdad with the various scientific centers at the level of Iraq and the world, which would coordinate and unify efforts in order to serve the Arab heritage of our Arab nation, which represents the most important component of its unity and the realization of its mission.
Establishment of the center :
The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad was established in 1977 and began its work on February 12, 1977. The University of Baghdad, as the mother of Iraq’s universities and the oldest, was the first to encourage, direct and develop heritage studies, as it set up a specialized scientific center in 1977 to highlight the bright aspects of our national heritage. It is (the Center for the Revival of the Arab Scientific Heritage) to be one of the basics of elucidating the sources of creativity and originality in the civilization of the nation and highlighting its constructive contributions in supporting the march of human civilization, especially what is related to the scientific and applied aspects of it. Time does not stop, but change has made it, and the Center has made good steps in order to achieve its noble goals. It is now rushing to expand its scientific activity and deepen it, through many publications of studies, indexes and heritage texts that have been scientifically investigated, activating links between researchers and holding specialized seminars and courses. The Center was established as a result Certain goals, including the resurrection of the Arab scientific heritage through the investigation and publication of manuscripts and scientific theses related to scientific activities And work on translating the mothers of old books and references to provide them to researchers and those interested in heritage affairs and to support the movement of heritage revival in the country culturally and materially. Contacting scientific centers, museums, universities and libraries interested in Arab heritage and coordinating work with them and benefiting from their experiences and what they preserve of manuscripts and Arabic books related to the revival of Arab scientific heritage, working to invite trusted orientalists in the field of Arab heritage and benefiting from their experience, holding national and regional Arab conferences and international conferences and participating In it, in order to link the Arab heritage with contemporary reality and to reveal the scientific innovations that Arab scientists contributed to in the medieval era and its impact on the scientific innovations witnessed by Europe in the modern era…
