The Center of the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage is a scientific academic institution at the University of Baghdad concerned with Arab and world heritage. Its mission is to develop and deepen research in scientific manuscripts, assist researchers in the matter of heritage, prepare specialists in studies that support these principles, and actively contribute to the advancement of scientific research.

The Center for the Revival of the Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad was established in 1977 and began its work on February 13, 1977 according to specific goals:

Resurrecting the Arab and Islamic scientific heritage by investigating and publishing manuscripts and scientific theses related to various scientific activities and working on translating references and published research to provide them to researchers and those interested in heritage affairs and to support the movement of heritage revival in the country materially and morally. It also seeks to collect Arab and Islamic scientific heritage in a special library that includes Manuscripts, letters that have not yet been published, books and studies at the disposal of researchers and those interested in the affairs of Arab scientific heritage, contacting the scientific center, museums, universities and libraries interested in Arab heritage, coordinating work with them and benefiting from their experiences and what they preserve of manuscripts and books related to the revival of Arab Islamic heritage and working to invite trusted orientalists In the field of Arab heritage and benefit from their experience. Organizing and participating in Arab national and regional conferences and international conferences in order to link the Arab and Islamic scientific heritage with contemporary scientific reality and reveal the innovations that Arab scientists contributed in the medieval era and the impact of these innovations on the scientific development witnessed by Europe in the modern era.

 

the future goals are:

  • Encouraging faculty members to carry out applied research
  • Encouraging professors to conduct pioneering research, and in fact 3 pioneering researches were accepted
  • Eliminate electronic illiteracy for all the center’s employees and teachers in particular
  • Continuing, communicating and following up on the mechanism of cooperation with the various state institutions, especially those close to the center’s various specializations
  • Sending research staff for training outside the country and increasing the center’s share of this program
  • Contacting Parliament to document Parliament sessions for previous sessions and this project will achieve contracts for the center’s affiliates because we have a Baghdad Documentation Department specialized in documentation, as well as openness to other state institutions for documentation purposes
  • We have a project to hold a conference with the security agencies of the National Intelligence Service entitled How to preserve manuscripts from theft and confront the smuggling of these manuscripts across the border
  • Working with the (Baghdad Provincial Council) by holding a conference on Ibn Fadlan, the Iraqi traveler who traveled to Russia.
  • Communicating with the Islamic Republic of Iran about the electronic treasury project, where the center’s teachers were sent to Iran for a period of six months
  • Strengthening work with the Hawza in Najaf by participating in its seminars
