The Center for the Revival of Heritage Organizes a Training Course on Preserving Baghdad’s Heritage and National Identity

The Baghdad Documentation Department at the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage / University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a specialized four-day training course from 14–18 December 2025, held in Professor Nabila Abdul Moneim Dawood Hall, entitled “Preserving Baghdad’s Heritage Is a National Necessity.” The course schedule included:

Day 1: Lecture by Lecturer Dr. Liqaa Shaker Al-Sharifi

Day 2: Lecture by Lecturer Dr. Rasha Issa Faris, Head of the Baghdad Documentation Department

Day 3: Lecture by Assistant Lecturer Juman Adnan Hussein

Day 4: Lecture by Assistant Lecturer Hajar Basim Mohammed, all specializing in history

Day 5: Final assessment

This initiative reflects the joint efforts of the two institutions to support academic skills and safeguard the national cultural identity.

The course featured a series of daily lectures delivered by several specialists, during which participants were trained on various topics related to Baghdad’s heritage, including methods of preservation, documentation, and transmission to future generations.

At the conclusion of the program, participants underwent an evaluation exam to measure the level of benefit and their understanding of the material presented throughout the course.

The organizers emphasized that the objectives of this activity are to preserve Baghdad’s heritage as part of the national identity, reinforce values of belonging, and encourage research and field efforts to protect this cultural legacy from deterioration.

This event is part of a series of activities organized by the Center for the Revival of Heritage, in collaboration with academic institutions, to raise awareness about Iraqi heritage and expand community participation in its preservation and documentation.
