Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Laith Majeed Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, the Department of Humanities in the Center organized an off-plan workshop on the morning of Monday, October 13, 2025, attended by a number of professors and researchers, and held in the Hall of Professor Nabeela Abdul Muneim Dawood. The workshop was entitled “The Role of Media in Confronting Intellectual Extremism.” The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Wasan Hussein Muheimid, a faculty member in the Center, and the lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Mowloud Shaker from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, University of Baghdad. Dr. Mowloud discussed the pivotal role of media in raising societal awareness, promoting a culture of tolerance and moderation, and confronting extremist ideas with a rational and objective discourse. She emphasized the importance of partnerships between media, educational, and security institutions to build an intellectual framework that shields society from extremism, supported by examples and strategies for protecting vulnerable age groups.
