Heritage Revival Center Organizes a Seminar  “ Literary Salons Between Heritage and Modernity.”

                Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, the Center organized a seminar on Monday, May 19, 2025, in Professor Nabeela Abdul-Munim Dawood Hall, entitled:”Literary Salons Between Heritage and Modernity.”The lecture was presented by Dr. Liqaa Amer Ashour, a member in the Center. She explained that literary salons are cultural and social spaces that bring together intellectuals, thinkers, and writers to exchange views and engage in discussions on issues related to literature, thought, and art. She highlighted the historical development of these salons, from their emergence during classical Islamic and Arab eras, through the Arab Renaissance, and into their modern forms. The researcher emphasized the importance of using technology intelligently to organize digital salons that combine authenticity and modernity, as well as encouraging youth to participate in these spaces to develop their intellectual and communication skills. She also noted the role of women in strengthening the management and activation of these salons, as they played a significant historical role in the past.

The center of heritage revival organized Awareness campaign

on the direct assignment of Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majeed Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, the Media and Government Communication Unit at the Center organized an awareness campaign on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2025, to update the voter registry as part of enhancing electoral awareness and stimulating effective participation in the electoral process. The campaign included distributing educational brochures and posters to students and employees in the Center and the university. The campaign aims to inform university members of the importance of updating their electoral data and emphasizing the procedures required to ensure that their names are correctly included in the voter registry. The materials included a simplified explanation of the update steps and the specified dates. This initiative came within the special directives of the Presidency of the University of Baghdad – Department of Media and Government Communication in order to provide a transparent and comprehensive electoral environment that elevates our university and great Iraq.

Sponsored by the ministry of culture ,tourism and Antiquities in cooperation with  the French Institute and the Goethe Institute in Iraq, with the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, the general directors, a number of members of parliament, and representatives of foreign embassies, Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majeed Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, participated in the (Tigris Nights Films) Festival, which was held on the grounds of the Abbasid Palace, where short Iraqi, German, and French films were shown that deal with the idea of ​​peace and violence in society.that was happened on Tuesday 13thof May 2025. He expressed his interest in this festival because of its ancient heritage importance.

The Heritage Revival Center organizes an awareness campaign

Under the direct assignment of Professor Dr. Alaa Nafie Jassim,( Director of the Center), the Center’s Media and Government Communication Unit organized an awareness campaign on Wednesday ,April 30TH , 2025, to define autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the university’s campuses. The campaign explained to students how to help those affected by the condition, how to cooperate with them, and how to guide them to departments and specialties related to the autism spectrum disorder

The center of heritage revival organizes scientific symposium

Under the supervision by prof, D. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center) , the center of heritage revival / university of Baghdad organizes scientific symposium) entitled (The leadership of clinical psychology and its impact on mental health care between heritage and modernity)in Nabila A. Dawood hall in the center on Wednesday 23rd/4/2025 he lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ashraf Muwaffaq Falih, Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology, Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University (PBUH). He spoke about the psychological reality in Iraq resulting from the accumulation of wars, displacement, conflicts and poverty, and the resulting significant increase in the rates of psychological disorders, most notably: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. He pointed out that these phenomena have become a real challenge to development and societal stability. He also emphasized that the clinical psychologist is the scientifically and professionally qualified element to conduct accurate assessments, provide effective non-drug therapeutic interventions and contribute to the formulation of national policies for mental health. He also pointed out that the Iraqi health system suffers from a severe shortage of psychological cadres, which requires the integration of clinical psychology graduates into the treatment team to fill the growing gap in psychological services, especially in light of the increasing need for specialized psychological care. Dr. Haider Kamel Mahdi, Head of the Department of Behavioral Rehabilitation for Autism, Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University (PBUH), spoke about the growing importance of mental health globally, especially in the Iraqi context, which suffers from complex psychological crises as a result of wars, terrorism, and displacement. He added that clinical psychology and the role of the clinical specialist in assessment, diagnosis, and specialized psychological treatment, stressing the difference between it and psychological counseling. He also touched on the vital role of specialists in preventing psychological disorders, supporting those affected by crises, and promoting general mental health, emphasizing the importance of integration between mental and physical health. The symposium concluded with a research paper by the lecturer, Dr. Marwa Jamil Ahmed, College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, presenting recommendations, including developing laws, expanding the powers of the psychologist and their role in official institutions, supporting clinical specialties, combating societal stigma, and encouraging scientific research in the psychological field. Under the supervision by prof, Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center) ,the syntactic sciences department in the center of heritage revival /university of Baghdad organized scientific symposium entitled (the environmental treatments to design buildings between heritage and contemporary) where sited in Nabila A. Dawood hall on Wednesday 16th/4/2025 , the lecture is chaired by assist instructor Walaa Dhia Nsaif in the center , the first lecture contained participant research by prof. Dr. Kareem Hasan Alwan (the dean of civil and regional planning center of higher studies ) / university of Baghdad and Enas Dhia Hadi (a lecturer at the civil and regional planning center in the university of Baghdad The research on heritage has yielded an inexhaustible wealth for each place according to what it contains, whether it is a physical or cultural heritage and what it carries of memories, meanings and cultures that appeared according to the chronological sequence of civilizations and the most important environmental treatments that focus on heritage buildings in hot, dry areas and what they include of treatments that may be formal at the level of facades FORM or detailed at the level of building details DETAILS to achieve thermal comfort and that the goal is to preserve heritage buildings from external environmental influences in addition to benefiting from previous experiences in finding environmental solutions that contribute to preserving the heritage legacy. The researcher added several environmental treatments, including formal environmental treatments at the level of facades and detailed environmental treatments – at the level of design and planning details and environmental treatments – reviewing experiences of heritage elements and environmental treatments – reviewing experiences of heritage cities that include contemporary treatments and then research M.M. Dr. Wasan Adel Abdel Wahab, a lecturer at our center titled (Protecting Heritage Buildings from the Risks of Climate Change), spoke about heritage buildings of distinctive value and how to preserve them and prevent them from being exposed to the risks of traditional or extreme nature resulting from climate change. These works and pre-emptive measures can be called preventive maintenance, which can be applied at the level of the heritage building or at the level of its urban environment. She also mentioned that preventive maintenance primarily focuses on implementing control work and accurate, periodic, non-destructive inspection of all architectural elements. The symposium also recommended adopting sustainable building materials that ensure ease of sustainability, the necessity of raising environmental awareness among city users, encouraging the concepts of urban agriculture, clarifying the importance of the Environmental Protection Law and the Antiquities Protection Law for users of heritage buildings, trying to link them, and including green education curricula in schools and universities to address climate problems. In conclusion, the director of the center thanked the researchers, wishing them continued success in serving our university and great Iraq.

Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center ) the center of heritage revival /university of Baghdad organizes seminar entitled ( asrtificial intelligence and keeping archeological heritage) in the hall of the center on Monday 14th/4/2025 , the lecture is presented by assist. Instructor . Emtithal Kadhum Sarhan (one of the center’s center who talked about  Architectural heritage is one of the most important legacies of our ancestors that distinguishes one country’s civilization from another. Along with customs, traditions, and heritage, it represents the civilization of our ancestors. Caring for it and maintaining its character, features, and architectural elements is at the core of our work as historians and heritage engineers working in the field of preserving history and heritage. Today, with urban progress and the modern city of information technology, artificial intelligence has emerged with its modern programs as a revolution in the year of communications and preserving architectural and cultural heritage. The latest artificial intelligence program is the DeepSeek program, which was produced in China and is characterized by speed, supports many languages, accurate results, and is free, which has enabled it to outperform the American program GhatGpt. From this standpoint, we can employ these programs to preserve the elements and features of architectural heritage in terms of form, building materials, and information about the identity of these buildings and their architectural elements, and to create a database that is accessible to researchers, tourists, students, and amateurs. There is also the Mizan program, which was prepared by the holy shrines in Karbala. It is an important program that is familiar with all applications and information related to Iraq, which allows adults to work on it and provide them with information. Specialized in history and architectural heritage, Sarhan added that the program is of great importance in preserving architectural heritage and preserving its elements, features, and stages of development from being lost and preserving it as a national and cultural treasure for future generations. The center of heritage revival organizes workshop Archaeological sites in Baghdad: challenges and solutions:

Under the supervision of prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center ,the center of heritage revival/Baghdad documentation department organized (Archaeological sites in Baghdad: challenges and solutions )where sited in the Nabila A. hall in the center  the lecture is presented by retired prof. Dr. Saadi Ibraham Al daragy who talked about  Those concerned with heritage should contribute to the preservation of the architectural heritage in Baghdad, as many heritage buildings in the capital have been subjected to demolition or alteration due to age, natural factors, neglect, and urban development witnessed by the city in recent decades. However, examples of houses, inns, markets, and mosques that are distinguished by their planning and architecture have remained, sponsored by official institutions concerned with preserving heritage, most notably the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, the tourism departments, and the capital’s municipality. They sought to preserve and utilize them to ensure their survival. Al-Daraji added many of the aforementioned examples that depicted examples of Iraqi architecture, and even the most sophisticated architecture has reached in terms of artistry in designing and decorating architectural elements. The researcher reviewed the most important heritage landmarks in the capital, which are among the most prominent tourist attractions because they represent what remains of the image of old Baghdad. The episode included several interventions related to architecture and decoration in that era, and the director of the center thanked the researcher, wishing him continued success.

Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alaa Nafeh Jassim, Director of the Center, and under the direction of the Presidency of the University of Baghdad, the Government Media and Communication Unit at the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage – University of Baghdad organized on Monday morning, February 24, 2025, at exactly eleven o’clock in the morning, in the presence of a number of members of the Police Command, professors and researchers, and in the hall of Professor Nabila Abdel Moneim Daoud, an awareness seminar entitled (Registering light weapons for citizens and purchasing medium weapons). The lecture was given by Lieutenant Colonel Salam Sadiq Maktouf – Ministry of Interior – Rusafa Sector Police Command, speaking about how to carry a licensed weapon.By citizens and handing over light weapons in the possession of the citizen through specific links activated by the Ministry of Interior and its affiliated sectors. The lecturer praised the necessity of informing these institutions of these weapons to register them according to these links and license them to the concerned citizen. Maktouf stressed the opening of horizons of cooperation and flexibility with the competent authorities and the citizen and ensuring his rights with the aim of preserving the lives of society from the use of incorrect weapons that threaten the lives of unarmed citizens. He also added that carrying weapons is a societal culture that must be adhered to by weapon holders. The lecture included several interventions and discussions on the subject. The competent authorities must enforce the laws strongly and firmly and increase community awareness through seminars, workshops and awareness conferences to protect the individual and society from the dangers of addiction.
