The Heritage Revival Center organizes a scientific symposium.

Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alaa Nafie Jassim ( Director of the Center) , the Women’s Affairs Department in the Center organized a scientific symposium entitled “Women in the Medical Heritage: Contributions to Medicine and Treatment” on Wednesday , April 30th , 2025, , in the hall of Professor Nabila Abdel Moneim Daoud. A number of professors and researchers attended the symposium The lecture was presented by  Dr.instructor  Anas Ahmed Hammadi Al-Mashhadani from the Open College of Education. His research, entitled “The Role of Women in Medicine during the Islamic Era,”who  spoke about the importance of women’s role in the medical field, combining medicine with other sciences, and exploring the role of the most famous female doctors in the Islamic era in treating and curing patients. Al-Mashhadani added that the establishment of the first hospital to treat  wounded in battles against the polytheists that it was a tent next to the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. Its function was to receive and treat wounded Muslims in battles and was run by a number of female volunteers. This was followed by presenting another lecture by Dr. instructor Nidaa Munther Salman from the Open College of Education who presented a research entitled (The Role of Women in Nuclear Medicine, Marie Curie as a Model) who spoke about her pioneering role in demonstrating women’s ability to excel in the fields of science and medicine. She was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize and contributed significantly to the development of nuclear medicine to treat cancer. The researcher added Marie’s innovations in theoretical research and established radiotherapy centers and contributed to the treatment of thousands of soldiers during World War I, where Marie Curie became a global symbol of the global woman and humanitarian doctor. The symposium concluded with a lecture by the researcher assist. Instructor Dr. Hind Amer Fadel, a lecturer from our center, speaking about the prominent role of women in medicine during the Islamic civilization. They were doctors, nurses and midwives and contributed to the treatment of men and women alike. The most famous of them is Rufaida Al-Aslamia, who was considered the first nurse in Islam and established a treatment tent during the conquests. They had specialties such as ophthalmology, obstetrics and medicine. This role reflects the advancement of Islamic civilization and its keenness to empower women scientifically and professionally.

The Heritage Revival Center organizes an awareness campaign

Under the direct assignment of Professor Dr. Alaa Nafie Jassim,( Director of the Center), the Center’s Media and Government Communication Unit organized an awareness campaign on Wednesday ,April 30TH , 2025, to define autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the university’s campuses. The campaign explained to students how to help those affected by the condition, how to cooperate with them, and how to guide them to departments and specialties related to the autism spectrum disorder

Visit

A group of the fifth stage students /college of political sciences –university of Baghdad and they had received by the director of the center prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim and Mrs. Rusul Hashem Al-hamam the responsible of media unit , they toured in center’s department They viewed a variety of heritage exhibits, including old collectibles and photos documenting Baghdad’s ancient history and historical figures and figures since its inception. They also listened to an explanation from the center’s director about the history of each piece and its cultural importance. They also visited the center’s library and museum, and the students expressed their admiration for the cultural heritage and introducing the new generation to the importance of preserving it. In conclusion, the center’s director thanked the students for this visit, which has had a positive impact on spreading the heritage culture, wishing them continued success.

Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center) , the center of heritage revival / university of Baghdad organizes scientific symposium) entitled (The leadership of clinical psychology and its impact on mental health care between heritage and modernity)in Nabila A. Dawood hall in the center on Wednesday 23rd/4/2025 he lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ashraf Muwaffaq Falih, Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology, Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University (PBUH). He spoke about the psychological reality in Iraq resulting from the accumulation of wars, displacement, conflicts and poverty, and the resulting significant increase in the rates of psychological disorders, most notably: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. He pointed out that these phenomena have become a real challenge to development and societal stability. He also emphasized that the clinical psychologist is the scientifically and professionally qualified element to conduct accurate assessments, provide effective non-drug therapeutic interventions and contribute to the formulation of national policies for mental health. He also pointed out that the Iraqi health system suffers from a severe shortage of psychological cadres, which requires the integration of clinical psychology graduates into the treatment team to fill the growing gap in psychological services, especially in light of the increasing need for specialized psychological care. Dr. Haider Kamel Mahdi, Head of the Department of Behavioral Rehabilitation for Autism, Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University (PBUH), spoke about the growing importance of mental health globally, especially in the Iraqi context, which suffers from complex psychological crises as a result of wars, terrorism, and displacement. He added that clinical psychology and the role of the clinical specialist in assessment, diagnosis, and specialized psychological treatment, stressing the difference between it and psychological counseling. He also touched on the vital role of specialists in preventing psychological disorders, supporting those affected by crises, and promoting general mental health, emphasizing the importance of integration between mental and physical health. The symposium concluded with a research paper by the lecturer, Dr. Marwa Jamil Ahmed, College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, presenting recommendations, including developing laws, expanding the powers of the psychologist and their role in official institutions, supporting clinical specialties, combating societal stigma, and encouraging scientific research in the psychological field. The center of heritage revival organizes workshop

Under the supervision by prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center of heritage revival) the center of heritage revival organized workshop entitled (worldly heritage in Iraq –conception and importance) where sited on the Nabila A. Almunam hall in the center presence by number of students from college of education for girls on Wednesday 21st/4/2025 , the lecture is presented by Mr. Ahmad Hashim Ibraheem (the chief of studying department- The Department of Studies and Research and the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage who spoke about the historical overview of the World Heritage approved by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and aims to protect sites of global value, whether natural or cultural, and how to preserve the most important archaeological sites in Iraq, such as the Erbil Citadel, which is considered one of the most important archaeological collections and beautiful landmarks. He also mentioned that World Heritage is an influential element in identity, culture and the environment. It is the memory of humanity throughout the ages and a factor in attracting tourists and contributing to the revitalization of the local economy. It is used as an educational tool to enhance the understanding of history and arts. Therefore, protecting heritage is a shared human duty. The lecturer added that among the sites announced on the preliminary list are the ancient city of Samarra and the ancient city of Babylon, among the archaeological cities included in the World Heritage. In conclusion, the Director of the Center thanked the lecturer, wishing him continued success.

Under the supervision by prof, Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center) ,the syntactic sciences department in the center of heritage revival /university of Baghdad organized scientific symposium entitled (the environmental treatments to design buildings between heritage and contemporary) where sited in Nabila A. Dawood hall on Wednesday 16th/4/2025 , the lecture is chaired by assist instructor Walaa Dhia Nsaif in the center , the first lecture contained participant research by prof. Dr. Kareem Hasan Alwan (the dean of civil and regional planning center of higher studies ) / university of Baghdad and Enas Dhia Hadi (a lecturer at the civil and regional planning center in the university of Baghdad The research on heritage has yielded an inexhaustible wealth for each place according to what it contains, whether it is a physical or cultural heritage and what it carries of memories, meanings and cultures that appeared according to the chronological sequence of civilizations and the most important environmental treatments that focus on heritage buildings in hot, dry areas and what they include of treatments that may be formal at the level of facades FORM or detailed at the level of building details DETAILS to achieve thermal comfort and that the goal is to preserve heritage buildings from external environmental influences in addition to benefiting from previous experiences in finding environmental solutions that contribute to preserving the heritage legacy. The researcher added several environmental treatments, including formal environmental treatments at the level of facades and detailed environmental treatments – at the level of design and planning details and environmental treatments – reviewing experiences of heritage elements and environmental treatments – reviewing experiences of heritage cities that include contemporary treatments and then research M.M. Dr. Wasan Adel Abdel Wahab, a lecturer at our center titled (Protecting Heritage Buildings from the Risks of Climate Change), spoke about heritage buildings of distinctive value and how to preserve them and prevent them from being exposed to the risks of traditional or extreme nature resulting from climate change. These works and pre-emptive measures can be called preventive maintenance, which can be applied at the level of the heritage building or at the level of its urban environment. She also mentioned that preventive maintenance primarily focuses on implementing control work and accurate, periodic, non-destructive inspection of all architectural elements. The symposium also recommended adopting sustainable building materials that ensure ease of sustainability, the necessity of raising environmental awareness among city users, encouraging the concepts of urban agriculture, clarifying the importance of the Environmental Protection Law and the Antiquities Protection Law for users of heritage buildings, trying to link them, and including green education curricula in schools and universities to address climate problems. In conclusion, the director of the center thanked the researchers, wishing them continued success in serving our university and great Iraq.

Jasim (the director of the center) , the center of heritage revival organizes seminar entitled (What are the common nouns according to Al-Suyuti (d. 911 AH)where sited in the Nabila A. Al-munam hall in the center on Tuesday 25th/3/2025 , the researcher assist. prof. Dr. Eman Salih Mahdi is presented a lecture in the center who talked about The early Muslims were very keen on interpreting the Holy Quran because it was their means to understand its meanings and connotations in a way that would enable them to derive its rulings and act in accordance with this deduction. This interpretation led them to the emergence of a new science of the Holy Quran, namely the science of faces and analogies, which occupied the minds of authors. Knowing that analogies is the plural of counterpart, which is the example and resemblance in forms, morals, actions and sayings. If something is close to something else in one of the qualities, then it is similar to it. As for the terminology, Ibn al-Jawzi said: Analogues is the name for words and faces is the name for meanings. Visit of the Dean of the Urban and Regional Planning Center

The Dean of the Center for Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan, visited our center on Tuesday morning, March 25, 2025, and was received by Prof. Dr. Alaa Naqi Jassim, Director of the Center. The visit resulted in opening up horizons for joint scientific cooperation between the two centers in holding joint conferences, seminars and workshops. The center of heritage organizes scientific symposium (Modern technology and its impact on preserving and verifying manuscript heritage) :

Under the supervision by prof. Dr. Alaa N. Jasim (the director of the center), the center of heritage revival/university of Baghdad organizes scientific symposium entitled (Modern technology and its impact on preserving and verifying manuscript heritage) where sited on the hall of Nabila A. Almunam in the center  in 19th/3/2025 , he researcher, Prof. Dr. Zainab Kamel Karim, Head of the Teaching Manuscripts Department at our Center, gave a lecture entitled (Modern Technologies and the Zengi Platform for Preserving and Verifying Manuscripts). She spoke about the most prominent modern technologies in preserving and verifying manuscripts and the most important modern technological means and methods for processing and studying archaeological manuscripts, which have greatly facilitated the researcher in solving many of the problems that manuscripts are exposed to due to their distinctive fragile organic nature, or helping in unraveling some historical and cultural facts dating back to the time of their copying. The researcher emphasized that the most important technologies are digital imaging technology, which is a form of photography, but it uses digital technology to process images without chemical processing, which converts the image of the paper manuscript into an electronic image, and reflectance spectroscopy technology, which is analysis using infrared rays (IR), in addition to X-rays, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, and modern technology for museum display of manuscripts. M.M. Walaa Diaa Nassif, a lecturer at our center, gave a lecture titled (The Role of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Preserving Manuscript Heritage and the Challenges and Problems Facing It). She spoke about the increasing significant role played by modern and digital technology in the field of preserving and protecting cultural heritage. Modern technologies are now used in the smallest details, as technology has become a vital and important role in preserving this heritage in various ways. She also added the role of technical and digital tools in documenting heritage and transmitting it to future generations, while enhancing access to it and understanding it more broadly. The research concluded with a lecture by Asst. Dr. Liqaa Amer Ashour, titled (The Importance of the Digital Library in Preserving Scientific Heritage (Manuscripts as a Model)), introducing digital libraries and their role in preserving historical manuscripts, as they allow for the preservation and publication of manuscripts more effectively and easily. Thanks to digital libraries, researchers and those interested in manuscripts can access historical documents more easily and accurately, which contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and its documentation for future generations. She emphasized that digital libraries help protect manuscripts from damage and loss, as they can be copied and stored securely online. In conclusion, the symposium included several interventions on technological processes that serve the preservation and verification of heritage. Under the supervision by prof. Dr. Alaa N.Jasim (the director of the center) , the department of Baghdad documentation in the center of heritage revival /university of Baghdad , the center organizes workshop entitled (the religion and cultural variety and its effect on Iraqi society ) , the lecture is presented by instructor Dr. Leqaa Shaker Khattar (one of the center’s members) who talked about the most states raq is one of the most diverse countries in terms of religion and culture, as it includes many spectrums of religions, sects and nationalities. In fact, this diversity has been throughout history a source of civilizational and cultural purchase and has contributed to the formation of an Iraqi identity rich in cultural heritage of arts, literature, architectural heritage, customs and traditions. Iraq has become difficult to overcome sub-identities in favor of a unified national identity. In order to achieve this, several things must be available, including strengthening the role of the law and protecting all components according to the principle of citizenship, far from sectarian or national discrimination, and encouraging dialogue between religions and sects. Al-Sharifi stressed the encouragement of responsible media and the dissemination of a culture of moderation and tolerance and the rejection of the discourse of violence and hatred, as M.M. also added. Walaa Diaa Nassif, a lecturer at our center, spoke about Iraq, one of the societies characterized by sects, religions and nationalities through cultural diversity that stems from a vision that ultimately seeks to establish new cultural values ​​that seek to embody peaceful coexistence. Achieving peaceful coexistence is gaining increasing importance in the current stage and current circumstances as it represents a social and security value.
