The center of heritage organizes scientific symposium (Modern technology and its impact on preserving and verifying manuscript heritage) :
Under the supervision by prof. Dr. Alaa N. Jasim (the director of the center), the center of heritage revival/university of Baghdad organizes scientific symposium entitled (Modern technology and its impact on preserving and verifying manuscript heritage) where sited on the hall of Nabila A. Almunam in the center in 19th/3/2025 , he researcher, Prof. Dr. Zainab Kamel Karim, Head of the Teaching Manuscripts Department at our Center, gave a lecture entitled (Modern Technologies and the Zengi Platform for Preserving and Verifying Manuscripts). She spoke about the most prominent modern technologies in preserving and verifying manuscripts and the most important modern technological means and methods for processing and studying archaeological manuscripts, which have greatly facilitated the researcher in solving many of the problems that manuscripts are exposed to due to their distinctive fragile organic nature, or helping in unraveling some historical and cultural facts dating back to the time of their copying. The researcher emphasized that the most important technologies are digital imaging technology, which is a form of photography, but it uses digital technology to process images without chemical processing, which converts the image of the paper manuscript into an electronic image, and reflectance spectroscopy technology, which is analysis using infrared rays (IR), in addition to X-rays, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, and modern technology for museum display of manuscripts. M.M. Walaa Diaa Nassif, a lecturer at our center, gave a lecture titled (The Role of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Preserving Manuscript Heritage and the Challenges and Problems Facing It). She spoke about the increasing significant role played by modern and digital technology in the field of preserving and protecting cultural heritage. Modern technologies are now used in the smallest details, as technology has become a vital and important role in preserving this heritage in various ways. She also added the role of technical and digital tools in documenting heritage and transmitting it to future generations, while enhancing access to it and understanding it more broadly. The research concluded with a lecture by Asst. Dr. Liqaa Amer Ashour, titled (The Importance of the Digital Library in Preserving Scientific Heritage (Manuscripts as a Model)), introducing digital libraries and their role in preserving historical manuscripts, as they allow for the preservation and publication of manuscripts more effectively and easily. Thanks to digital libraries, researchers and those interested in manuscripts can access historical documents more easily and accurately, which contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and its documentation for future generations. She emphasized that digital libraries help protect manuscripts from damage and loss, as they can be copied and stored securely online. In conclusion, the symposium included several interventions on technological processes that serve the preservation and verification of heritage. The director of the center thanked all participants in the symposium, wishing them continued success in serving our university and our beloved Iraq
