Center for the Revival of Heritage Organizes a Seminar

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, the center organized a seminar on Monday September 8, 2025. The event was attended by a number of professors and academics and was held in the Nabīlah ʿAbd al-Munʿim Dāwūd Hall, under the title “The Demands of the People of Hellfire in the Holy Qur’an.”

The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Taha Subti Ibrahim, a faculty member at our center, who spoke about the People of Hellfire in the Qur’an and the requests they make and declare. Among these demands are returning to worldly life, being released from Hell, or having the punishment reduced even for a single day. He explained that all these demands are voiced by the inhabitants of Hell, beginning with their wish to return to the world, then to be released from Hell, and finally to have the torment lessened — each carrying doctrinal and educational implications. He emphasized the importance of drawing lessons from the Qur’an in refining behavior and strengthening faith awareness

Heritage Revival Center Organizes a Workshop Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Women’s Health”
Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, the Women’s Affairs Division in the Center organized a workshop on Wednesday morning, May 21, 2025, in Professor Nabeela Abdul-Munim Dawood Hall, with the attendance of a number of professors and researchers.The workshop was entitled:“Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Women’s Health”The session was chaired by Dr. Zainab Khalid Mahmoud, a member in the Center, and the lecture was presented by Dr. Juman Adnan Hussein who spoke about the rapid technological advancements that highlight Artificial Intelligence (AI) as one of the most significant tools transforming the field of women’s health—ranging from preventive care and accurate diagnosis to treatment and improving quality of life. Thanks to deep learning techniques and big data analysis, doctors and patients can now access personalized and rapid solutions based on scientific precision, which reduces medical errors and enhances women’s health outcomes across various life stages.The researcher highlighted the most important AI applications in this field, such as early detection of breast and cervical cancers, improved IVF outcomes, pregnancy monitoring, fetal health tracking, and even managing menopause symptoms. These technologies also help bridge gaps in areas lacking specialized medical services by offering remote diagnostics and smart assistive tools. She also emphasized the challenges related to data ethics and the importance of ensuring inclusivity in AI models to represent all racial and social groups.This introduction opens the door to exploring how AI is reshaping the future of women’s healthcare, while maintaining a balance between innovation and potential risks. In conclusion, the workshop included several contributions and discussions focused on these applications and their proper use.

Sponsored by the ministry of culture ,tourism and Antiquities in cooperation with  the French Institute and the Goethe Institute in Iraq, with the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, the general directors, a number of members of parliament, and representatives of foreign embassies, Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majeed Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, participated in the (Tigris Nights Films) Festival, which was held on the grounds of the Abbasid Palace, where short Iraqi, German, and French films were shown that deal with the idea of ​​peace and violence in society.that was happened on Tuesday 13thof May 2025. He expressed his interest in this festival because of its ancient heritage importance.

The department of syntactic sciencesin the center of heritage revival /university of Baghdad organized workshop entitled (Scientific plagiarism in ancient and contemporary studies)in Nabila A. Al-Munam Dawood hall in the center on Wednesday 7th/5/2025 with presence by number of researchers , The lecture was given by Professor Dr. Taha Sabti Ibraheem (one of the center’s members) who talked about the reality , types and forms  of scientific plagiarism defining it as using of thoughts ,words and other works without signing to them mentioned the types of scientific plagiarism, It is complete, partial and intellectual theft. He also confirmed that the causes of theft occur from ignorance of academic rules and cheating. He also explained the ways to avoid academic theft, which are understanding academic rules, correct citation and original writing.,

Under supervision of prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center), the center of heritage revival organized seminar entitled (the king Omar bin Abd Almalik Althafar yousif bin Rasol) where sited in the hall of Nabila A. Dawood in the center on Monday 10th/3/2025 , the lecture is presented by assist. Dr. Sahar Hasan Abd Alrassol (one of the center’s members) who talked about King Ashraf Omar bin Youssef bin Omar bin Ali bin Rasoul, the third king of the Rasulid dynasty in Yemen, was a scholar of good character and well-read in books on genealogy, medicine and astronomy. He was the eldest son of Al-Muzaffar. During his father’s reign, Yemen flourished and scholarly gatherings were filled. His father was a doctor, preacher and jurist who loved his subjects and was kind to them. He respected scholars and gave generously. Among his achievements are the Taiz School, the guest house and the school of Dhofar City. The golden age of the Rasulid dynasty, which lasted for 46 years, was politically and economically stable. The Rasulid dynasty continued for more than two and a quarter centuries, as King Ashraf took power (694-696 AH) (1295-1297 AD). He has many works, including: Al-Ibdal li-ma ‘alam fi al-hal fi al-adwiyah wa al-adkarah, a collection of letters of the dictionary, and Al-Tabsirah fi ‘ilm al-nujum, Tuhfat al-Adab fi al-tarikh wa al-nasab, Jawahir al-Tijani fi al-ansab, Tarafat al-Ashab fi Ma’rifat al-Ansab, Al-Mu’tamad fi al-adwiyah, and Al-Mughni fi al-Baytara. He specialized in horse diseases and Al-Tafahah fi al-Tafah fi al-najm. Among his most important teachers was the jurist Ali bin Abi Al-Saud, who taught him grammar. He was a distinguished jurist, and the jurist Ibrahim bin Issa bin Muflett, who taught him jurisprudence. Among his most important works was building the Ashrafiya School in the Maghreb of Taiz, where he brought water from Mount Saber and made a pond for it. He appointed an imam, a muezzin, and a teacher in it, and he endowed them with enough endowments to meet their needs.

Dr. Rasha Essa Fares who talked about the role that  the world played by Ibn Abd Rabbuh as one of those who influenced Islamic educational thought and classified the book Al-Iqd Al-Farid as one of the books that do not stop at the limits of a specific science, but rather deals with literature in its comprehensive concept in addition to the sciences related to medicine, astronomy and mathematics, as the goal of writing this book is an educational goal, explaining the methodology that he followed in classifying his book, as it is generally similar to lectures on politics, science and literature in its various arts, which makes it clear to us that our historian was an educational teacher and a guide to culture and thought through the lectures he gives on the good policy of the state, represented in this manner of the Holy Quran and the Noble Sunnah and the opinions of the wise. He pointed to the importance of moral values ​​and their connection to scientific values ​​​​through the method of induction and logical rational deduction, and touched on the aesthetic values ​​​​represented by the literary arts. He was distinguished by the works of thought, logic, objective criticism and the use of the scientific method, which had a distinctive and effective impact in enriching the Arab Islamic civilization.

Supervised by prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center) , the center of heritage revival organized seminar entitled (polina Hasson and her role in women’s renaissance) where sited in the hall of Nabila A. Dawood in the center on Monday 24th/2/2025 , the lecture is presented by assist. Instructor Leqaa Shaker Alsharifi (one of the center’s members) who talked about the role of Polina Hasson as she is one of the pioneer in women’s movment in Arabic world specially in Iraq because she plays prominence  role in rising women’s rights  through journals and social active Her role in the journalistic field became prominent after the founding of “Layla” magazine in 1923 AD, which was the first women’s magazine in Iraq. Al-Sharifi added the goals of this pioneer who emphasized women’s demands for their rights and their role in society and encouraged girls’ education and participation in public life. Her writings and ideas influenced subsequent generations of feminist activists and paved the way for highlighting the role of women in Iraqi society.

According to University President’s Directive and supervised by the director of the center prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim , the center of heritage revival organized celebration on Thursday 12th/12/2024 on the hall Nabila A. Dawood in the center Celebrating the occasion of the Great Victory Day, Professor Dr. Zainab Kamel Karim from the Manuscripts Department gave a speech on this occasion, speaking about the Great Victory Day to liberate Iraqi lands from the groups of obscurantism and responding to the call of the supreme authority. The liberation operations began. The tenth of December was an important day in the lives of Iraqis. She remembered the martyrs of Iraq who sacrificed their lives and blood for the sake of the homeland. Surat Al-Fatihah was recited in reverence for the souls of our righteous martyrs who sacrificed their most precious possessions. Mr. Saif Sabri Qasim, Head of the Training and Development Unit at the Strategic Center in the Community Police Department / Ministry of Interior, participated in the celebration from the members of the Ministry of Interior, speaking about the participation of all branches of the army, the Ministry of Interior, the security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces, and they had an effective and honorable role in liberating Iraqi lands from the terrorist ISIS

Sponsored by prof. Dr.Alaa Nafea Jasim , the center of heritage revival organized workshop entitled (the educational organizations and its effect on Combating extremism( on Wednesday 11th/12/2024 on the hall of the center , it is presented by Mr. Saif Sabri Qasim (the person who is responsible of the unit of training and development in the strategy center/social police department /ministry of interior who talks about Extremism, its most prominent causes and negative effects, and ways to achieve intellectual security to reduce it. The sources of feeding these ideas, methods of prevention, and the roles played by governmental and non-governmental institutions were also explained. The discussions focused on the role of educational institutions in this field in terms of protecting students from extremism by formulating an educational discourse aimed at building and developing intellectual security and enhancing the values ​​of citizenship and national and cultural identity with the aim of participating in sustainable peace, promoting moderation, acceptance of others, rejecting fanaticism and extremism in all its forms, and providing the student with the opportunity to participate in rational dialogue and correct intellectual distortion with argument and persuasion. The lecture included several interventions on the topic. In conclusion, the director of the center thanked the lecturer, wishing him continued success in serving our beloved Iraq

According to the center’s activities , the center of heritage revival , the center organized the second workshop about drug which entitled (the effect of social awareness in protecting youth from drugs) where sited on the center’s hall on Monday 2nd/12/2024 , the lecture is presented by assist. Instructor Zainab Khalid who talked about the role of family in awareness their kids from drug danger  By raising them on a correct construction of values ​​and sound habits, monitoring their friends and the environment surrounding them outside the family, in addition to providing them with a suitable and healthy environment, strengthening their role within the family, informing them of the most important problems, and participating in finding appropriate solutions. Thus, the children feel that they have an entity and importance, which prevents them from resorting to any party outside the family and makes them able to confront the danger of the problems they are exposed to. The researcher also added about the role of schools and universities in protecting their members from the danger of drugs by holding educational seminars and workshops, in addition to recreational and scientific activities that occupy the time of young people and show the extent of the risks to which drug addicts are exposed, and thus protect them from this scourge.

According to the center’s activities , the center of heritage revival and scientific research that organized a awareness campaign on the dangers of drugs and how to avoid them that it organizes a workshop entitled (Youth drug addiction and ways to confront it) where sited  on Sunday 1st/12/2024 , it is presented by assist. Instructor Joman Adnan Hussein who talks about Drug addiction among young people is a serious phenomenon that affects the physical and psychological health of young people and negatively affects society as a whole. Addiction results from regular drug use, which leads to physical and psychological dependence on them and weakens the ability of young people to control their lives. Therefore, it is a complex problem that requires concerted efforts between the family, society and government institutions. Early awareness, psychological support and the provision of healthy alternatives can contribute effectively to preventing and combating addiction.

Under the supervision by prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim , the center organizes workshop entitled ( the famous Arabs and their effect in Arabic Renaissance era , the lecture is presented by prof. Dr. nadia Gathban Mohammad (one of the lecturers in Iraqi scientific collective ) The researcher discussed the Renaissance from a linguistic, historical and philosophical perspective since its inception in Europe and the extension of its impact to Arab countries due to the European occupation. She then talked about the most important representations of this Renaissance in Iraq, its fields and the influential names that contributed to shaping the map of cultural, political, social and artistic awareness. She also showed that the Renaissance is a continuous state between the past and the present because it is linked to the way of thinking. This does not mean that critical thinking should not be practiced on it, but rather it is a necessity to review to measure its impact, especially in what was produced by newspapers and magazines that dealt with the daily life of Iraqi society and its situation with the establishment of the concept of the modern state. The researcher touched on the importance of institutions in supporting the intellectual renaissance in Iraq. Among the most prominent of these institutions is the Scientific Institute founded by Thabet Abdel Nour in the 1920s and the Iraqi Scientific Academy, which included great names, some of whom are involved between the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage and the Academy, such as Dr. Taha Baqir, who founded an Iraqi archaeological school with its own features, and Professor Dr. Saleh Ahmed Al-Ali, who established a method for reading Arab history. She touched on the legal renaissance at the hands of the head of the Iraqi Scientific Academy, Professor Munir Al-Qadi, and his impact on the formulation of civil law in Iraq. As for the field of artistic renewal, we find Jawad Salim, who was able to draw inspiration from what is historical and local to bring it to the global scene.
