He focused on the minarets of the city of peace, which witnessed the construction of different styles of minarets, the most important of which is the cylinder decorated with motifs of faience. Then he talked about the oldest minarets in Iraq, the most important of which are the Malwiya in Samarra, the Hadbaa in Mosul, and a minaret on it. He presented examples from Baghdad, especially the minaret of the Caliphate Mosque, the Qamar minaret, the slippers, and the Marjan Mosque…and touched on its various functions that we discover through the sources. Then he mentioned something about its architecture, the methods of building it, and the implementation of its decorations, whether the decorations were brick, stone, or faience, as well as the writings that adorned its balconies, bodies, and bases. The center’s professors participated in the discussion and influenced this panel discussion through questions, as opinions were raised about the maintenance of the minarets, which were affected by terrorism in Iraq, and an emphasis on documenting and reviving them again. In conclusion, the director of the center thanked the lecturer, wishing him continued success.
