(Science and Technology in the Arab-Islamic Civilization)

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alaa Nafeh Jassim, Director of the Center, the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad organized on Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025, at exactly eleven o’clock in the morning, in the presence of a number of professors and researchers, and in the hall of Professor Nabila Abdel Moneim Daoud, a workshop entitled (Science and Technology in the Arab-Islamic Civilization). The lecture was given by Asst. Dr. Ali Abdul Asal, College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, Department of Architecture, in his joint research with Asst. M. Fatima Jamal, Engineer, entitled (Climate Treatments in the Arab-Islamic City), speaking about the most prominent environmental challenges that Muslims dealt with in their cities, such as hot climates and high temperatures. He also added the most prominent treatments for these challenges, including the urban level of the city and the architectural level. The lecture reviewed the Baghdadi House as an example of a private residential unit and the Mustansiriya School in general within the Islamic city, and then the lecture of Asst. Prof. Dr. Zainab Kamel Karim, Head of the Manuscripts Department at the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage, University of Baghdad, and the title of her research entitled (Techniques and the Most Important Tools of Ibn al-Haytham) knowing that he is the pioneer of optics or the science of light from which the conditions of visible objects are known in their quantities and qualities based on their proximity and distance and the difference in their shapes, as Ibn al-Haytham is the one who gave the science of light and perspectives. The lecture was also given by Dr. Maha Rahim Salem, College of Arts, University of Baghdad, and the title of her research (Applied Sciences among Muslims), speaking about the applied sciences that touched on the translation and transfer movement that flourished in the Abbasid era, thanks to which many books were transferred and translated, including medicine, engineering, astronomy, algebra, pharmacy, chemistry, and natural sciences such as the science of tricks and physics, knowing the most important and prominent scientists of that period, which the Europeans relied on and built their scientific renaissance on its basis. In conclusion, the workshop included several interventions on the topic, and the director of the center thanked the lecturers, wishing them continued success and success in serving our university and our beloved Iraq.

In frame of enhancing the scientific and searching cooperation On behalf of Professor Dr. Alaa Nafeh Jassim, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage, the Head of the Scientific Affairs Division and Head of the Baghdad Documentation Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Rasha Issa Faris, held a meeting with the Director General of the Department of Research and Studies / Shiite Endowment, Mr. Ammar Musa Al-Moussawi, with the aim of opening new horizons for partnership between the two institutions. The meeting discussed ways to develop joint research projects related to our religious and Islamic heritage, exchange scientific expertise, and enhance cooperation mechanisms. At the end of the meeting, the two sides expressed their aspiration for more continuous cooperation in support of reviving our ancient Islamic heritage .

Visit

A delegation of the center of heritage revival in the university of Baghdad presidency by prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center)with members of professors and employees visited Al-Kufa mosque on Wednesday 5th/2/2025 , they received them ateam of (public relations department) acted by Mr. Nabeel Hameed Taha and Mr. Zaher AlAbdali / The General Secretariat of the Mosque to explore the oldest Islamic and heritage landmarks in the mosque and the efforts made to preserve the heritage collections. The delegation also viewed the most important manuscripts in the mosque, where they learned about the mechanism of preservation and restoration of these manuscripts. The two sides also discussed ways of joint cooperation by holding seminars and workshops to document this great legacy. In conclusion, the Director of the Center thanked the Relations Department for the warm reception and hospitality, and the Shield of Excellence was presented, wishing the mosque’s administrators continued success.

(The role of women in balancing work and family life: challenges and solutions)   

Under the supervision by prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center) the center of heritage revival in cooperation with ministry of Labor and Social Affairs organizes workshop entitled (The role of women in balancing work and family life: challenges and solutions) The lecturer was Dr. Nada Sabah Al-Kaabi, Faculty of Arts, Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University. Knowing that balance is work and family life and the ability to manage responsibilities in a way that does not affect the individual’s well-being without compromising mental and physical health. Al-Kaabi added that the importance of balance is providing sufficient time for rest and recreational activities. This helps reduce stress and diligence and build a strong family relationship. Managing time in family activities also helps reduce daily chaos. Women must be able to determine their priorities and focus on what is most important. The workshop included several interventions by the attendees. In conclusion, the director of the center thanked the lecturer, wishing her continued success and permanent prosperity.

The center of heritage revival organizes seminar

Under the supervision of prof . Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center of heritage revival ) , the center organizes seminar entitled (Correct and incorrect beginning  in reading holy Quran) where sited in the hall of Nabila A. Dawood in the center on Thursday 23rd/1/2025 by presenting numbers of researchers , the lecture is presented by prof. Dr. Taha Sabti Ibraheem who talks about the correction beginning ,it is that the reader begins with a verse that is not related to what precedes it in wording or meaning, and it has many types, such as beginning with the beginning of the surah and beginning with a verse that allows for a new context. As for the incorrect beginning, it is that the reader begins with a verse that is related to what precedes it in wording or meaning, and it also has many types, including beginning with a verse that contains a pronoun that refers to what precedes it, beginning with a verse that contains a demonstrative pronoun for what precedes it, and beginning with a verse that occurs in a story. The lecturer emphasized the issue of stopping and starting, and there must be great care on the part of students, researchers, and readers. Despite all these great efforts and extreme care, we do not find a special section explaining specific controls that would be a law and a general method for the reader that would prevent him from making mistakes and errors that he makes when he begins to read the Holy Quran.

A group of professors the center of heritage revival presidency by the director of the center prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim and Mr. Essa Fares (the Administration Manager( visited college of medicine / university of Baghdad , the group is received by Dr. Mohammad Shihab AlEdany (the dean of the college) the both search and agree to held Joint scientific activity between heritage and medicine It also opened up horizons of this cooperation through mutual visits between the two parties, in addition to holding a joint scientific symposium entitled (Medicine in Heritage) and reviving medical symbols and figures who played a role in heritage and its horizons. In conclusion, the director of the center thanked Al-Eidani for the hospitality and warm reception, wishing him success in serving our Iraq and our distinguished university.

Under the supervision of prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center of heritage revival) , the center organized a celebration in the occasion of establishing Iraqi army day   on Tuesday 7th/1/2025 with presence of professors and researchers ,Dr. Zainab Kamel Kareem presented a speech to be proud of Iraqi army mentioned brave situation Which has distinguished itself throughout its long and honorable history and its constant support for our people with their aspirations and hopes, and they are a source of pride for us. I asked God to grant victory to our army and armed forces in all their branches and our sacred crowd. The celebration included reading Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of our righteous martyrs.

The center of heritage revival organizes scientific symposium 

The center of heritage revival in cooperation with women affairs unit organizes scientific symposium entitled ( the effect of divorce on Family disintegration( , where sited in the Nabila A. Dawood hall in the center on Monday 30th/12/2024 . the symposium enriched with scientific researches as one of  Research by Ms. Maha Essam Abdel in her research paper (The Problem of Divorce: A Problem of the Age and a Phenomenon that Threatens the Social Fabric), the second research by Dr. Intisar Ahmed, entitled (Marriage and Divorce among the People of Mesopotamia), and the research by Ms. Ahmed Farhan Jassim, entitled (The Effect of Divorce on the Child’s Upbringing), and the research by Ms. Anas Ahmed Al-Mashhadani and the title of his research (Types of divorce and forms of separation in Islam) and many researches that participated in the symposium, where the symposium aimed to show that divorce and separation of the mother and father affect the entire family, especially children, as Islam approved divorce and permitted it, but it is disliked and if the Hammurabi Code indicated from the legal articles the formula for marriage and divorce and engagement ceremonies and dowry and marital rights in full, divorce also greatly affects men and women and causes psychological and social pressures. The symposium recommended the establishment of laws and procedures that limit this phenomenon and activate and invigorate the role of the social researcher and the necessity of awareness by parents to observe the correct controls in the marriage of their children and activate laws that prevent marriage and divorce outside the court and hold seminars, workshops and awareness discussion groups that urge the importance of married life and forming a family. The symposium included several interventions and participations by the lecturers and at the end, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the researchers We wish them continued success in serving our distinguished university and our beloved Iraq.

Under the supervision by prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim , the center of heritage revival organizes workshop in cooperation with Federal Integrity Commission entitled (Definition of the Integrity Penalties Law) on Tuesday 29th/10/2024 on the Nabila A. hall in the center with presence by many members and researchers , the session headed by assist. Prof. Dr. Rasha Essa Fares (one of the center’s members) to present the program  Within the anti-corruption program entitled (Introduction to the Integrity Penalties Law), the lecture was given by the respected legal advisor (Manaf Ahmed Shaalan), speaking about the work of the Integrity Commission in combating corruption and the penalties that result from that according to the Integrity Commission Law, represented by imprisonment, financial fines, dismissal from work, travel ban, and the mechanism for recovering funds in the event that the accused are convicted, as the law aims primarily to reduce levels of corruption and encourage reporting of corruption cases within procedures that provide protection for whistleblowers and enhance transparency in work. Under the supervision of prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center) , the center of heritage revival / university of Baghdad organizes workshop entitled (Green Education Methods and Practices)on Tuesday 24th/9/2024 where sited on the gallery of the center with presence of professors . the lecture was presented by prof. Dr. Maha Taha Edrees (medical institute / Middle Technical University) Speaking about green education methods that aim to achieve sustainable development by integrating the concepts of environment and sustainability into curricula and educational activities, the researcher stressed the need to address these concepts in three main dimensions: education, technology, and community participation. Recognizing sustainability, which for humans represents the ability to preserve the quality of life we ​​live in the long term, and the greatest incentive to move towards renewable energy sources remains protecting the environment from the dangers of pollution and providing a healthy environment for all living beings. In conclusion, the director of the center thanked the lecturer for her interest and keenness to spread awareness and explain the importance of these renewable energies and raise green education topics.

Within the Anti-Corruption Program and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alaa Nafeh Jassim, Director of the Center, the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (Money Laundering Crime) on Tuesday morning, September 24, 2024, in the hall of Professor Nabila Abdel Moneim Daoud, in the presence of a number of professors and researchers. The lecture was given by the Legal Advisor (Manal Faeq Abbas) and the Legal Advisor (Manaf Ahmed Shaalan) / Federal Integrity Commission, speaking about money laundering, which aims to give a legal character to the funds that represent the proceeds of crimes and their returns, regardless of the type of crime committed and the description of the perpetrator. It is a process resorted to by those working in drug trafficking and transnational and non-organized organized crimes to hide the unreal source of illegal (dirty) money and to camouflage it to give legitimacy to illegal income. The speakers emphasized the crimes that harm the national economy and the national anti-money laundering laws and international agreements, including the Convention against Drug Trafficking and the (Palermo) Convention to Combat Crimes The transnational organization aims to prevent the concealment of the true source of illegally acquired funds and to protect companies that are exploited in money laundering crimes without realizing it. Combating money laundering is part of economic development procedures. In conclusion, the director of the center thanked the lecturers for giving attention to important topics that are considered contemporary problems, hoping to raise these issues in workshops and discussion groups in the future

University of Baghdad ranked first in the Spanish Webometrics ranking

The University of Baghdad topped the Iraqi universities in the Spanish Webometrics ranking, ranking 40th in the Arab world and 1438th globally out of more than 12,000 universities. The University of Baghdad advanced 55 ranks, as its progress in this ranking represents among the top 12% of universities worldwide. The Spanish Webometrics ranking issued by the Spanish Scientific Research Council is based on three basic criteria: The university’s visibility with a weight of 50%: depends on the content of the university’s website and the number of external links that point to the university’s website and transparency with a weight of 10%: calculated based on the number of citations received by the most cited researchers at the university, in addition to excellence with a weight of 40%: measured by the number of research papers classified among the top 10% of the most cited papers in each of the 27 specializations of the complete database for the period 2019-2023. The University of Diyala came in second place locally and Al-Mustansiriya University came in third place. It is worth noting that the classification included analyzing data from more than 32,000 higher education institutions from more than 200 countries. The editors of the classification network are scientists working in a world-class public research institution with long experience in metrics-driven evaluation. The classification network or Webometrics is the largest academic classification of higher education institutions. Every six months, it provides an independent, objective, free and open scientific exercise to provide reliable, multidimensional, up-to-date and useful information about the performance of universities from all over the world. The primary goal of the classification network is to promote open access to the knowledge produced by universities, so the best strategy to improve the rank of universities is to increase the quantity and quality of their web content
