

Baghdad: Capital of Arab Tourism
The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad participated in the activities of the Conference on “Baghdad: Capital of Arab Tourism 2025”, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with the Office of the Prime Minister and the National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance.
The event was held on Thursday morning, May 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM, in Al-Shaheed Al-Hakim Hall at the University of Baghdad, with the attendance of Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center, along with a group of the Center’s faculty and staff.
This participation reflects the Center’s ongoing commitment to strengthening scientific, cultural, and heritage-based engagement—highlighting the historical significance, vibrant identity, and future prospects of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
The conference witnessed broad attendance by researchers, academics, and representatives of government institutions. One of the highlights of the event was a captivating theatrical performance, in which artists presented moving scenes from Baghdad’s rich history and cultural identity.

Heritage Revival Center Organizes a Seminar:”Effective Communication in the Workplace “
Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, the Center organized a seminar on Monday, June 2, 2025, , in Professor Nabeela Abdul-Munim Dawood Hall, with the presence of a number of professors and academics.The seminar was entitled:”Effective Communication in the Workplace “The lecture was presented by Dr. Juman Adnan Hussein, who spoke about the importance of effective communication as one of the most critical factors influencing team productivity and institutional success. She emphasized that effective communication enhances collaboration, reduces conflicts, and increases efficiency, making it the cornerstone of a successful work environment. It plays a vital role in achieving institutional goals and in building strong relationships among employees. By developing communication skills and overcoming potential barriers, institutions can significantly improve their performance and foster a positive and productive work climate.

Field Visit
On the morning of Thursday, May 29, 2025, the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage welcomed a group of first-year students from the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad (morning studies), headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Sidad Mouloud Saba’.The delegation was received by Professor Dr. Zainab Kamel Karim, Head of the Manuscripts Department, and Mr. Fares Issa Fares, Director of Administration at our Center. The students toured the Center’s facilities and explored its heritage collections.A significant part of the visit focused on the manuscripts, where students were introduced to some of the most valuable manuscripts preserved in the Center’s library. They also learned about the methods of preservation and restoration, as well as the techniques used in cataloging and classifying these valuable historical documents.The visit also included a tour of the Center’s museum, where the students expressed their appreciation for the rare and precious heritage artifacts on display.At the conclusion of the visit, the Head of the Manuscripts Department extended her gratitude to the student delegation, wishing them continued success in their academic journey in service of their university and beloved Iraq.

Heritage Revival Center Organizes a Workshop: “Heritage and Sustainable Development“
Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, the Center organized workshop on Monday morning, May 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM, in Professor Nabeela Abdul-Munim Dawood Hall, attended by a number of professors and researchers .The workshop was entitled: “Heritage and Sustainable Development” The session was chaired by Dr. Juman Adnan Hussein, a member at our Center. The lecture was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Su’ad Yousif Al-Himyari — a writer, poet, and critic specializing in Arabic language, affiliated with the General Directorate of Education in Baghdad / Karkh II , the Openning College. She presented a research entitled: “Arabic Language, Heritage, and Sustainable Development: An Integrated Intellectual Vision” Dr. Al-Himyari discussed the essential interconnection between the three concepts, aiming to highlight the role of the Arabic language as a bearer of civilizational heritage and a driver of sustainable development. She shed light on how the richness of the Arabic language and cultural heritage can be leveraged to achieve the goals of sustainable development on cultural, social, and economic levels. Dr. Al-Himyari emphasized the importance of raising awareness among participants regarding the role of Arabic and heritage within the context of sustainability, encouraging them to develop innovative ideas and projects that benefit from this relationship. She also stressed the need to strengthen collaboration among various stakeholders—academic, cultural, governmental, and private sectors—to support efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development while preserving cultural identity. The workshop concluded with several insightful interventions and discussions on the significance of sustainable development in today’s world.



A Member from the Center of heritage revival Publishes a Research Paper
Professor Dr. Wasan Hussein Muhyimid, a faculty member at the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, has published a peer-reviewed scientific research paper titled:
“Libraries of Christian thinkers and Their Role in Enriching the Iraqi Museum Library”
in Bein al-Nahrain Journal, Issue 209–210, Volume 53, for the year 2025.
We wish her continued intellectual and scientific contributions in her academic journey.



Heritage Revival Center Holds a Meeting
On the morning of Monday, May 19, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, held a meeting with the academic and administrative staff in Professor Nabeela Abdul-Munim Dawood Hall.This meeting came within the framework of strengthening institutional communication and following up on developments in academic and administrative work . At the beginning of the meeting, the Director emphasized the importance of integrating efforts among the various teams within the Center in order to achieve the set goals. The meeting witnessed a fruitful discussion among the attendees, during which a number of initiatives and proposals were presented to support the Center’s scientific mission and outline strategic plans.



The Heritage Revival Center organizes a scientific symposium.
Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alaa Nafie Jassim ( Director of the Center) , the Women’s Affairs Department in the Center organized a scientific symposium entitled “Women in the Medical Heritage: Contributions to Medicine and Treatment” on Wednesday , April 30th , 2025, , in the hall of Professor Nabila Abdel Moneim Daoud. A number of professors and researchers attended the symposium The lecture was presented by Dr.instructor Anas Ahmed Hammadi Al-Mashhadani from the Open College of Education. His research, entitled “The Role of Women in Medicine during the Islamic Era,”who spoke about the importance of women’s role in the medical field, combining medicine with other sciences, and exploring the role of the most famous female doctors in the Islamic era in treating and curing patients. Al-Mashhadani added that the establishment of the first hospital to treat wounded in battles against the polytheists that it was a tent next to the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. Its function was to receive and treat wounded Muslims in battles and was run by a number of female volunteers. This was followed by presenting another lecture by Dr. instructor Nidaa Munther Salman from the Open College of Education who presented a research entitled (The Role of Women in Nuclear Medicine, Marie Curie as a Model) who spoke about her pioneering role in demonstrating women’s ability to excel in the fields of science and medicine. She was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize and contributed significantly to the development of nuclear medicine to treat cancer. The researcher added Marie’s innovations in theoretical research and established radiotherapy centers and contributed to the treatment of thousands of soldiers during World War I, where Marie Curie became a global symbol of the global woman and humanitarian doctor. The symposium concluded with a lecture by the researcher assist. Instructor Dr. Hind Amer Fadel, a lecturer from our center, speaking about the prominent role of women in medicine during the Islamic civilization. They were doctors, nurses and midwives and contributed to the treatment of men and women alike. The most famous of them is Rufaida Al-Aslamia, who was considered the first nurse in Islam and established a treatment tent during the conquests. They had specialties such as ophthalmology, obstetrics and medicine. This role reflects the advancement of Islamic civilization and its keenness to empower women scientifically and professionally.




Visit
A group of forth stage students from college of political sciences – university of Baghdad visited the center of heritage revival and they had received by the director of the center prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim and the administrative manager Mr. Fares Essa Fares and they toured the halls of the center and got to know the most prominent scientific figures who have worked since the establishment of the center. They also toured the library and the center’s museum and were shown the most prominent manuscripts, valuable books, and archaeological collections. At the end of the visit, the director of the center thanked the student delegation for their visit, wishing them continued success in serving our university and our beloved Iraq.

Under the supervision by prof. Dr. Alaa Nafea Jasim (the director of the center), the center of heritage revival organizes scientific symposium entitled ( The leadership of clinical psychology and its impact on mental health care between heritage and modernity)with presence of many professors and researchers where sited in Nabila A. Almunam hall in the center on Wednesday 23rd/4/2025 , the lecture is presented by assist. Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mowfaq Flaih (the chief of clinical psychology department)/university of imam Jaafar Alsadiq who talked On the psychological reality in Iraq resulting from the accumulation of wars, displacement, conflicts and poverty, and the resulting significant increase in the rates of psychological disorders, most notably: psychological trauma (PTSD), anxiety, and depression, pointing out that these phenomena have become a real challenge to development and societal stability. He also emphasized that the clinical psychologist is the element qualified scientifically and professionally to conduct accurate assessments, provide effective, non-drug therapeutic interventions, and contribute to the formulation of national policies for mental health. He also pointed out that the Iraqi health system suffers from a severe shortage of psychological cadres, which requires the integration of clinical psychology graduates into the treatment team to fill the growing gap in psychological services, especially in light of the increasing need for specialized psychological care. Dr. Haider Kamel Mahdi, Head of the Department of Behavioral Rehabilitation for Autism, Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University (PBUH), spoke about the growing importance of mental health globally, especially in the Iraqi context, which suffers from complex psychological crises as a result of wars, terrorism, and displacement. He added that clinical psychology and the role of the clinical specialist in assessment, diagnosis, and specialized psychological treatment, stressing the difference between it and psychological counseling. He also touched on the vital role of specialists in preventing psychological disorders, supporting those affected by crises, and promoting general mental health, emphasizing the importance of integration between mental and physical health. The symposium concluded with a research paper by the lecturer, Dr. Marwa Jamil Ahmed, College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, presenting recommendations, including developing laws, expanding the powers of the psychologist and their role in official institutions, supporting clinical specialties, combating societal stigma, and encouraging scientific research in the psychological
