On the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the establishment of the valiant Iraqi Police, commemorated on the ninth of January each year, we are pleased to extend our highest congratulations and sincerest feelings of pride to all members of the Iraqi Police—officers and ranks alike—in recognition of the great sacrifices they have made and continue to make in order to maintain security and stability and to safeguard the dignity of the home and its citizens. This cherished national occasion represents a moment of pride and honor for a history rich in dedication and discipline, and it embodies the pivotal role of the Iraqi Police in upholding the rule of law, building a state of institutions, and protecting national achievements. We pray to Almighty God to protect Iraq and its people, to grant our security forces continued success and guidance, to bestow His vast mercy upon the martyrs of the police, and to grant a speedy recovery to the wounded.

At the Invitation of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies
A Delegation from the University of Baghdad Signs an Expanded Academic Cooperation Agreement in Japan As part of an academic tour in Japan, on the morning of Friday, December 5, 2025, Professor Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, visited the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, accompanied by a delegation headed by Professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim Insaf, President of the University of Baghdad, along with a number of university professors, including the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Amir Sajid, and Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qaisi, Professor of Japanese Studies in the College of Arts.
The visit resulted in the signing of a joint cooperation memorandum between the two sides, encompassing a wide range of academic and research fields, including Japanese studies, the Arabic language, peace studies, Middle Eastern issues, translation, and social and human sciences. The agreement paves the way for new horizons of scientific and intellectual exchange between the two institutions. The memorandum was signed on the Japanese side by Professor Nobu Haruna, President of the University, who praised the significance of the partnership with the University of Baghdad and its scientific role in the region. This agreement comes as part of the University of Baghdad’s efforts to attract Japanese students to study in Iraq under the “Study in Iraq” initiative, and within its broader strategy to expand its international partnerships and support joint academic programs.

Publication of a New Scientific Research Study by Professor Dr. Wasan Hussein Muhimid on the Role of Father Dr. Yousef Habbi in Preserving Syriac Heritage
A new scientific research paper entitled “Father Dr. Yousef Habbi and His Role in Preserving Syriac Heritage” has been published by Professor Dr. Wasan Hussein Muhimid, a faculty member in the Department of Human Studies at our Center. The study appears in Bin Al-Nahrain Journal, Issue (211–212), Volume (53), for the year 2025.
The research explores the pioneering role played by Father Dr. Yousef Habbi in safeguarding and reviving Syriac heritage through his efforts in historical investigation and the scholarly editing of texts, in addition to his contributions to enhancing the presence of Syriac heritage within contemporary research fields.
The publication of this study reaffirms the ongoing academic efforts of Dr. Wasan Hussein Muhimid in Syriac studies and human heritage, and strengthens her scholarly presence in one of the most prominent specialized peer-reviewed journals


Meetings
Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage Holds Preparatory Meetings for the 2025 Annual Conference
Professor Dr. Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, held a series of meetings over two days with the Center’s staff as part of the ongoing preparations for the Seventh International Conference “The History of Science among the Arabs,” scheduled for 2–3 December 2025. The meetings aimed to discuss the final preparation stages and establish the organizational arrangements necessary to ensure the success of the conference. The meetings reviewed the scientific program of the conference, the procedures for welcoming participants and guests, and ways to enhance logistical support while providing all technical and administrative requirements to organize a distinguished conference befitting the Center and its scholarly efforts.
During the meetings, the Director emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among all departments and effective coordination between academic and administrative staff. He stressed that the success of the conference depends on teamwork, collective cooperation, and the utilization of accumulated expertise in planning and organizing academic events.At the conclusion of the meetings, a set of executive measures and follow-up schedules were agreed upon to ensure that all preparations are completed before the conference and to establish a supportive academic environment to achieve its objective

Director of the Center for Revival of Heritage Participates in an International Conference
sponsored by the center of the Hassan bin Mohammed Center for the Study of Ancient Arabia, and with the participation of the University of Baghdad, the international conference held in the Qatari capital, Doha, convened its second symposium titled “Animals in Ancient Arabia” from October 25 to 26, 2025.
Professor Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, took part in the conference with his research paper titled “Animals in the Kingdom of Hatra (Iraq): An Artistic and Civilizational Study.”
The conference also featured the participation of numerous Arab and European scholars, whose valuable research enriched the event by discussing ancient inscriptions, archaeological evidence, and textual sources that reflect the relationship between humans and animals in pre-Islamic Arabia.
